A “Rainbow Baby” is a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth or death in infancy. This term is given to these special rainbow babies because a rainbow typically follows a storm, giving us hope of what’s to come. The rainbow is more appreciated having just experienced the storm in comparison.

The storm (loss) has already happened and nothing can change that experience. Storm-clouds might still be overhead as the family continue to cope with the loss, but something colourful and bright has emerged from the darkness and misery.

A rainbow baby does not mean that your loss should be forgotten; such a devastating loss can never be forgotten. Rather, your rainbow baby will carry the torch of the love you will always have for the child you lost, and when you hold that precious baby in your arms, you will fully understand the meaning of the term. The beautiful rainbow baby stories told by rainbow moms are triumphant tales of renewal and healing; the underlying emotions ranging from bittersweet happiness to overwhelming joy.

The Baby Love Images team strongly feels for these families and would love to engage with the community having the opportunity to “give back” to families of Rainbow Babies celebrating the miracle of a new life on a very special way. We are pleased to follow on from our time with heartfelt photography charity to be able to offer one Rainbow Baby Gift Session per month to eligible families. *please note: these sessions are to be held within 4 weeks of birth. Please allow a minimum of 4 weeks in advance of due date to be considered, the earlier the better.
